Within the auto insurance market, Allstate is among the most widely recognized providers, and so it isn’t surprising that the Motor Club roadside assistance plans that they offer are widely available, reputable, and thorough. Three different levels of service are offered by Allstate: the Basic plan costs $52/year, the mid-range Deluxe plan is $108/year, and the Premium Elite plan is $186/year. In contrast to another well-known insurance company, Allstate’s premiums cost the same nationwide and do not rely on what your ZIP code is.

Although each plan includes just two household members only, Allstate does generously cover teenage drivers who are 16-18 years old in the same household with no extra charge for Emergency Roadside Assistance. For drivers 16-23 years old who want to have full memberships benefits, it is possible to cover them at just $24/year each. All of their plans cover members for all vehicles: their own car, a rental vehicle, or even riding with a friend as a passenger. Those two aspects offered by the Motor Club are especially important for families who have teenagers.

The coverage offered by Allstate is similar to most of the roadside assistance companies: all of their plans include fuel delivery, lockout service, tow, and road service, a $100 roadside assistance benefit, $500 arrest bond, trip interruption of up to $750, along with member-only discounts on shopping, travel, and much more.

Allstate, unlike other providers, doesn’t limit towing based on mileage but instead by the cost of their service: the Basic plan comes with $100, Deluxe with $150, and Platinum Elite is $250, per occurrence. Even in locations like California that are more expensive, where towing may cost up to $10 per mile, their plans still offer more coverage compared to companies that limit towing reimbursement to only the initial five miles.

Allstate genuinely attempts to meet the needs of each potential customer; they also have coverage for RV users available as well. For example, those who prefer having access to the service discounts without having to commit to an annual membership have a pay-per-use option called Good Hands Rescue.

All of their plans offer an on-time service guarantee: as a member, you will receive assistance within 30 minutes, or they will be given a 25% discount from Allstate on their next year’s dues. A 30-day money-back guarantee is also offered by Allstate Motor Club, and refunds dues within the initial month. If a member wants to cancel a renewed or new membership past the first 30 days, then Allstate will reimburse their membership fees on a prorated basis from the beginning of their membership plan.

The only less-than-positive view of Allstate’s Motor Club that we have is in terms of how many covered calls provided per membership year. Although it was hard to find the information on their website, we called the toll-free customer service number and found out that coverage is limited based on service level: 3 calls are included with the Basic plan, 4 calls with Deluxe, and no limit for Platinum Elite, but they monitor usage. Although the Basic plan offered by Allstate is affordable and highly attractive for bigger families, just three covered service calls per year may not be enough. However, the Platinum Elite membership with its unlimited calls might be worth the additional yearly cost.
