National Motor Club is the most expensive by far of all of the roadside assistance plans that we have reviewed. Its basic plan costs almost $50 more per year compared to the next most expensive roadside service. Depending on which plan you select, you either pay $20 or $11 per month, which is almost twice the monthly rate of AAA or Allstate.
The Security Protection Plan offered by National Motor Club costs $11 per month and comes with most of the common benefits that roadside assistance programs should offer. The plan pays $1000 per incident for locksmiths, tire changes, fuel delivery, tows, and other services. That is standard for roadside assistance services that we have reviewed.
The plan also comes with various discounts for hotels and car rentals. In general, those types of discounts are available with other companies’ premium plans. However, the cost of the basic plan offered by National Motor Club is comparable to many other companies’ premium plans.
We also looked at the Security Premier plan offered by National Motor Club. At $240 per year, it is the most expensive plan, by far, that we have reviewed. One disadvantage is there isn’t any difference in the coverage for roadside assistance between the basic and premier plan. With either plan, you get $100 in roadside assistance for locksmith services, fuel delivery, flat tire repair, and towing. If you become involved in an accident far away from home, they provide Security Premier members with a $500 trip interruption reimbursement. It is among the lowest amounts we have found.
If roadside assistance is your primary concern, then this might not be the best program to meet your needs. However, their Security Premier Plan does offer additional services that most typical roadside assistance plans do not offer. What stood out the most for us was its identity theft resolution. If your purse or wall is stolen, they have a specialist who will help you place a fraud alert on your credit cards and will monitor your accounts for any suspicious activity. If you become a victim of identity theft, then the company will work with you to get the situation resolved.
